Where can I hunt with Suppressors (Silencers): Updated List:

Thumbnail image for 50calsilencer.jpg While in some states, it is illegal to hunt with a Silencer, in the following states it is legal to hunt with a suppressor (often referred to as a “silencer”).

In states where hunting with suppressors have been legalized, we have seen substantial increases in the sales of suppressors and the wait times for approval from the ATF have also increased. Many states that have legalized suppressors still have CLEOs who refuse to sign for individuals to purchase them. An NFA Gun Trust or a more flexible Gun trust can not only avoid the CLEO signature requirement in most states, but can also provide many benefits to firearms owners and their families. CLEO Signature costs $150 in Anchorage Alaska

Thanks to the Alaska Machine Gun Association for letting us know about this. The Municipality of Anchorage has just imposed at $150 fee, effective 1 Jan 11, to process BATFE forms for CLEO signature.

Many might think that this is a Tax on a Tax and would violate Alaska’s preemption statute.

While CLEO sign off is often the initial reason individuals begin to look at trusts, We have found that the other advantages of a NFA trust are the overriding reason most end up using a NFA Firearms trust over a revocable trust.

Alaska Machine Gun Shoot

This years annual machine gun shoot was May 29-30 at Riverside Park Campground and Range in Anderson AK. The Alaska machine Gun Association’s website gives information on their machine gun shoots.

Alaska (AK): What NFA Firearms can I own?
